چکیده

Localities and a/sync places are two recent extensions to the Petri net model. Whereas localities have been introduced as a modelling tool for membrane systems and more general GALS (globally asynchronous locally synchronous) systems, a/sync places make it possible to model synchronous communication between transitions. We investigate the interaction between locally synchronous execution and synchronous communication. Our focus is in particular on the causalities in the concurrent runs of a new Petri net model combining these features. Security Improved Mobi-Sync Protocol for Under Water Sensor Network

Time synchronization plays a critical role in distributed network systems. In this paper, we investigate the time synchronization problem in the context of underwater sensor networks (UWSNs). A synchronization algorithm for UWSNs must consider additional factors such as long propagation delays from the use of acoustic communication and sensor node mobility. These unique challenges make the accu...

A General Characterization of Sync Word for Asynchronous Communication

We study a problem of sequential frame synchronization for a frame transmitted uniformly in A slots. For a discrete memoryless channel (DMC), Chandar et al showed in [1] that the frame length N must scale with A as e > A for the frame synchronization error to go to zero (asymptotically with A). Here, Q denotes the transition probabilities of the DMC and α(Q), defined as the synchronization thre...

Secure Communication in Shotgun Cellular Systems

In this paper, we analyze the secure connectivity in Shotgun cellular systems (SCS: Wireless communication systems with randomly placed base stations) by Poisson intrinsically secure communication graph (IS-graph), i.e., a random graph which describes the connections that are secure over a network. For a base-station in SCS, a degree of secure connections is determined over two channel models: ...

Emotive Driver Advisory System

In 2007, Ford, in cooperation with Microsoft, introduced an in-car communication and entertainment system, SYNC. This system enables Bluetooth and USB connectivity for consumer phones and MP3 players and allows hands-free voice-activated control of brought-in devices. Since its initial introduction, there has been rapid growth of SYNC-enabled services, such as remote monitoring of vehicle healt...

A queuing model for meteor burst packet communication systems

A discrete time queueing model for the performance of meteor burst packet communication systems is analyzed using matrix analytic methods. A meteor burst system uses ionized layers formed by naturally occurring meteor bursts in the earth’s atmosphere to reflect radio signals. Due to its nuclear survivability, inherent privacy, and low cost, such a method of communication has gained considerable...
